Rich Media Developer

Summary

The rich media developer is responsible for developing aesthetically pleasing digital experiences with equally beautiful code. You will be tasked to help maintain and improve existing digital display that may include but is not limited to display advertising, email and website animation. In addition to daily tasks, you will be afforded dedicated time for professional development to keep pace with the ever-changing digital landscape. And, while its primary duties will be creating best-in-class rich media experiences, this position will be afforded opportunities to contribute to other development projects.

Last, this isn’t a position for ninjas or rock stars unless, of course, you actually have skills in martial arts and/or are in a really good band. We will however accept down-to-earth, smart people that just want to solve our clients’ problems.

Responsibilities

  • Translate designs and mockups into fully functioning creative using HTML/CSS/JS
  • Continuously look for ways to improve flat artwork
  • Stay up to date with development techniques and best practices in display media
  • Implement new digital technologies or development techniques that help meet client goals and business objectives

Tech specs

  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Experience using JS frameworks (jQuery, GreenSock, etc.)
  • Familiarity developing with CSS pre-processors (LESS, SASS, etc.)
  • Practical experience developing interactive banners and rich media ads
  • A deep understanding of ad-serving platforms such as DoubleClick, Sizmek and Flashtalking is essential but can be learned (DoubleClick certifications aren’t essential, but they would make a candidate stand out)
  • Familiarity with browser testing and debugging
  • Working knowledge of control systems and code repositories (SVN/GitHub etc.)

Design and animation skills

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Some experience in animation tools such as Adobe After Effects or Adobe Animate
  • Excellent typographic skills

Additional qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant, demonstrable experience at a marketing communications agency or related function within a client environment (portfolio of previous work a prerequisite)
  • Articulate and confident demonstrating your ideas in internal and client presentations
  • Comfortable working as a team player among healthy egos and strongly held opinions
  • Willingness to have your code reviewed and to review the code of teammates
  • Documentation lover
  • Ability to share ownership of ideas
